Located in the Central Region of the State,the city of Angicos is one of themost famous of the Sertão Potiguar. Its name comes from the leafy tree , which is typical in the region. An important post card picture of the State is part of its landscape: the Pico do Cabugi (Cabugi Peak). With more than 11 thousand inhabitants, the city’s economy is principally based on agriculture and cattle raising and has in its popular traditional feasts its mark in the cultural tradition of the Region. The city isalso known for its rich foklore and legends , such as the ‘Mãe D´onça; besides the pedagological experiences of the famous educator Paulo Freire. São João and the Vaquejada attracts every year thousands of visitors. For the lovers of ecotourism and geotourism, the climbing of the Pico do Cabugi, an extinct 590 m high volcano, is a tip for something you can’t miss.
